Indie retailers swing in the Tree of Life!
Tree Time 2013, the annual Tree of Life open day for independent retailers, was a swinging success.
Numbers were up 10% on the previous year with retailers gorging themselves on a massive 1500 show deals to get their stores buzzing with excitement this Christmas and New Year.
The mood was already exuberant when X-Factor crooner Tom Birks, ToL’s Territory Manager for the Midlands and the North, (pictured right) did an impromptu gig that got visitors and exhibitors alike singing along.
The show’s success is down to a combination of enthusiastic support from suppliers and the generosity of ToL in offering retailers a jamboree of product samples plus a £50 fuel voucher.
Many of the retailers also enjoyed a gala dinner on the eve of the show at nearby Crewe Hall to set a positive mood for the marquee event at ToL’s HQ in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
The renowned trolley dash, in which the raffle-winning retailer has a minute to help themselves to free stock, was won by Health Matters of Longton. As the Health Matters representative was unavailable, ToL’s Mike Payne and Sam Walchester stepped in to do their best – over £400 at retail value.
Natural Health Store of Banbury won the Kindle Fire in the Christmas Emporium raffle.
Seasons Whole Foods from Co Durham won the entire contents of the product showcase. The store was drawn from all the entrants who voted for their favourite new product – the winning product was Ecozone’s Forever Flush Toilet Block.
"As always it was a pleasure to welcome everyone to Staffordshire,” said Marketing Manager Karen Wilson. “We hope you can all join us again next time!”
