Why small food retailers should invest in a one-click checkout
Back in 1999, an emerging ecommerce company by the name of Amazon had the foresight and wisdom to patent the concept of a one-click checkout experience. This patent meant that consumers could quickly make a purchase without having to re-enter payment details or their address.
It shows that even 18 years ago, Amazon realised the importance of making the online purchasing process as smooth as possible in order to maximise sales. It was also very protective of this patent, for example taking legal action against the likes of Barnes & Noble for developing its own technology.
