Market Watch: Mental Health Awareness Week
This year’s Mental Health Awareness week runs from May 8 to 14.
Reports from both England and Wales suggest that approximately only one in eight adults with a mental health problem is currently receiving treatment.
In England, one in six reports experiencing a common mental health problem such as anxiety and depression in any given week.
Mike Wakeman, a pharmacist with a Master’s in Pharmaceutical Analysis, Nutritional Medicine and Clinical Oncology, says: “While there will always be a genuine need to treat acute forms of mental illness with prescribed psychiatric medication, there are millions of people whose mental health issues are less severe, where other forms of treatment are more appropriate.
